Mystery Cowl Knit Along 2021

Celebrate the end of 2021 with my annual Mystery Cowl Knit Along!

This year's cowl theme is bubbles - there will be some eyelets, stranded colorwork, and slip stitch textures in this cozy (and quick!) cowl. I would suggest this project for advanced beginner and intermediate knitters, though I will be providing tutorial videos for many of the techniques in the project.

How does this work? Beginning on December 26th, I will release daily clues that contain a new section of the pattern. To receive the updates, purchase the pattern on Ravelry and check back every day for the new clue. You can knit at your own pace or try to work each clue on the day it's released. Join in on the fun in my Ravelry Group and then be sure to register for the Zoom pattern show-off and New Year's Party after the Knit Along. What materials do I need? Yarn: 2 colors of worsted weight (CYCA #4) yarn. 200 yards main color, 100 yards contrast color. Color suggestions: solid colors or very subtle tonal colors. 1 color of a textured yarn that is a DK or worsted weight, about 100 yards. Example: Yarn Snob “Teddy” or a fingering weight yarn held together with a fingering/laceweight mohair. Color suggestions: this yarn can be solid or multicolor.

For one of my cowls, I chose Malabrigo Rios for my main and contrast colors and then a strand of Shibui Silk Cloud held with a strand of Schoppel Edition 3 for the textured yarn.

Yarn Snob Yarns has put together kits for the cowl that include the pattern. Some of the color options are below, and there are more available at www.YarnSnobYarns.com

Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) 24” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge and US 6 (4 mm) 24” circular needle or one size smaller than size needed to obtain gauge. Gauge: 4.5 stitches and 6 rounds = 1” in stockinette stitch using larger size needles.

What was last year's cowl like? Check out the Chevron Frenzy here on Ravelry.
