Wrap yourself up in the Garden State. This striped triangular shawl with lace detailing uses two coordinating colors of fingering weight yarn. The state flower of New Jersey - The Garden State - is the Common Blue Violet, and lacy Blue Violets bloom throughout the top of the shawl. The allover lace pattern at the bottom of the wrap is inspired by our pollinators: butterflies & bees. For a little extra whimsy, three optional crochet flowers adorn the bottom of this petal-soft shawl.
The Garden State shawl is worked from the top center down towards the bottom edge in one piece. Two colors are striped – one in garter stitch and the other in stockinette with lace patterns incorporated. An elastic bind off is recommended for this shawl because it is blocked to a rather loose gauge to enhance its laciness. There are instructions for optional crochet flowers that can be attached to the shawl as embellishments.
