In this seminar, we’ll spend three weeks exploring different hat styles, learning the math required to write hat patterns that will fit, and writing (and knitting!) patterns for hats that are sure to be loved!
The classes will take place on Thursdays, March 20, 27, April 3 from 1:00-2:30 pm EST on Zoom

Schedule
Week 1: We’ll cover the basics of gauge, measuring heads, and designing a simple bullseye or spiral style crown. Over the week, you’ll knit your pattern as homework.
Week 2: After a homework show-and-tell, we’ll start designing a geometric/star-shaped crowned hat and begin incorporating some stitch patterns or colorwork designs. Your homework for the week? Knit your hat, of course! Design hats and upload the patterns to our classroom for a math-check, feedback, and critique.
Week 3: We’ll have a show-and-tell of our hats from the previous two weeks, discuss the process of designing hat patterns for sale (including how to size and estimate yardage), and we’ll talk about some fascinating hat styles that are “beyond the beanie”.
Get ready to begin your pattern writing journey from the comfort of your home!
