I wrote up this pattern for the American Heart Association "Little Hats, Big Hearts" initiative. The goal of the program is to raise awareness of Congenital Heart Defects. Pattern Details:

Sizes: One Size – Newborn Infant

Finished measurements: 12” circumference & 5” depth when laid flat, though finished size may vary for each knitter, depending on yarn and tension.

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch

Needles: Worked flat with a seam: US 7 (4.5 mm) straight needles.

Worked in the round without a seam: US 7 (4.5 mm) DPN’s. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Yarn:50 yards per hat of worsted weight (CYCA #4) cotton or acrylic washable yarn.

Other Materials: stitch marker, tapestry needle.
